Our Mission
The Atlantic City Police Athletic League mission in our community is to give every child the opportunity to participate in ever day childhood activities in a safe and caring environment. The Police Athletic League goal is to provide diversity in our programs in order to reach the greatest numbers of young people possible. We also strive to foster a partnership between youth and police officers in our community. The inter action alone is a tremendous asset. Whenever you have young people in the community playing, and interacting with law enforcement officers, the entire community will benefit.
AC PAL Board
Our ACPAL Board is blessed to be made up of community members, all of which are active in participation, support, and donations for our community. All members unanimously agree to be a blessing by donating their time, talent, & treasure. Making our ACPAL Family embraced & supported by an Awesome Board!”
We take pride in living out our Motto:
“It’s better to build boys and girls, than mend men and women.”

Lieutenant Willie Santiago
Executive Director of Atlantic City Police Athletic League
A lifelong resident of Atlantic City, and 13-year veteran of the Atlantic City Police Department. As an officer, Santiago worked the streets of Atlantic City, developing a strong work ethic, and as a result, was assigned to the Community Relations Unit at the Atlantic City Police Athletic League, where he was later promoted to Sergeant.
In this Unit, Santiago worked along with others as a liaison between the Police Department, and the Community, fostering improved direct communication, and fellowships with Atlantic City’s citizens through community events.
Years later, recognized for his continued leadership skills, and societal values, Santiago would be promoted to Lieutenant, the first Latino in the history of Atlantic City, and would assume, along with the Community Relations Unit, the newly established Neighborhood Coordination Unit. The community-based specialized Unit, would take him and his officers into the residential neighborhoods, where residents would enjoy Community BBQs, Movie Nights, Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaways, and Holiday Shop With a Cop for underprivileged kids.
His pride came, when offered the position of Executive Director for the Atlantic City Police Athletic League (AC PAL) to manage, and oversee all recreational activities of the building.
To date, Lt. Santiago, develops, and designs innovative ideas to entertain, and keep youths, and young adults members of the AC PAL, off the streets, and occupied through various projects, and programs such as (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, Homework Completion, Summer Camp, Male Mentoring, and Sports participation like Basketball, Boxing, and Soccer, while most importantly, providing a safe haven in a facility, which promotes physical, mental, and healthy social activity.
Special Thanks To Our Former Executive Director
Lieutenant Monica Coursey
An Atlantic City Police Lieutenant with over 20 years of experience. An innovated proven leader, result driven, energetic professional. Rising through the department from a Patrol Officer, Detective, Community Relations Sergeant, and Police Chaplain Liaison. Each position carrying various responsibilities and professional demands. While effectively operating within high principals and ethics I serve and protect my community with honor and respect.
We commend Lt. Coursey for the success of the $65,000 Boxing Grant awarded to ACPAL by Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, and State Athletic Control Board (SACB) Commissioner Larry Hazzard Sr. in 2019. The boxing program superceded its goals in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lt. Coursey challenged the team to find innovative ways to engage and motivate participates, and they rose to the occasion. They used zoom, outdoor training, web videos and one on one sessions to keep the group active. The program continues to create champions.
Lt. Coursey also applied for and received a grant from Ocean First to fund a Stem program. STEM is a new program offered by ACPAL to enhance and advance the knowledge of our youth. The program will introduce our youth to more advance information and technologies, they will also experience hands on activities. This program is a vision of Lt. Coursey to inspire our youth to find their inner genius.
Thank you for your service.
